CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR NURSES, ACUPUNCTURISTS,
MASSAGE THERAPISTS
Learn
to work with babies and mothers in a way that is gentle, effective and
empowering. Our approach is based on the body’s inner healing wisdom and
natural impulse to move toward health.
In this class, we will explore theory and practical work
related to the birthing process for mom and baby. We will explore interventions
and their effects on mom, baby and bonding. We will then learn ways to resolve
behavioral and physiological incongruencies.
We will learn to:
•
Name and palpate the anatomy of the fetal skull and body
•
Understand and model appropriate response in relationship to secure attachment bonding
•
Track health, activation and movement toward balance
•
Perceive and support embryonic and energetic inherent impulses toward healing
• Understand the role of
autonomic re-regulation in allowing baby and mom
to fully relax with each other
• Work with coherency and congruency in supporting health and wholeness
• Understand the role and function of
Stephen Porges’ Social Engagement
Nervous
System(SENS)
•
Recognize and work with your own unresolved birth process
•
Use verbal, perceptual, presence and palpation skills that are effective with
the mother/infant dyad and family system
• Understand the effects and how to work with interventions such as inductions, pitocin, epidurals, C-section, vacuum extraction and tongue clipping
•
Recognize the stages of birth and their physiological, emotional and mental
impact.
There will be session observation of work with several infants and mothers so you can experience holding the field and tracking the healing process.
